Camberwell

Halloooo everybody! So now that im taking my ~year out~ ive been thinking about if theres anywhere else id like to apply to start fresh next year sooo i went to the camberwell illustration open day yesterday and it looks fab! Small classes, lots of tutor time, lots of space, nice community vibe etc. So i guess ill probably apply as there isn't anywhere else that's caught my eye at the moment, and it'll give me something to work towards and make sure i don't start slacking at the old art work. But and this is a BIG BUT last year they only accepted 42 students out of 600 applicants so i wont keep my hopes up! If not back to LCC, i still love it.

Anyway check out this lip sync workshop the illustration class did last year, so good!

Nowhere Boy

Just rented this movie about John Lennon's teenage years, so good I watched it twice! Basically about his rebellions, dysfunctional family life and how Elvis inspired him to start a rock and roll band.

Also the guy who plays John Lennon is a fantastic actor and mesmerizing in this role... he's a total babe.

FRUITS

My momma bear brought me back this book from oxfam the other day and it is amazing! If you havent heard of fruits before efore i definitely recommend looking it up in the library, i think there's two different versions. Harajuku kids are so cool. Really makes me want to go shopping in Tokyo! Here are some of my favourites. Apologies for the terrible scanner.

I love the little profiles at the bottom of each photo, the best is the current obsessions. I like these best..

KEEP DRAWING!

I'm sure there are lots more things that will pop into my head along the year and become of utmost importance, ill just keep adding them on so i don't forget.

banana playing the accordion

I like this little guy, but sadly this is the only bit of graphic design ive done in FAR TOO LONG! It hasn't even been two weeks and i wish i was back at uni. I miss LCC. I miss London. I miss brick lane. I miss the hipsters. I miss standing up on the bus. I miss the wind when the tube comes towards you. I miss arrogant Londoners. I miss being independent. I miss student finance. I miss the river. I miss being ~strictly south~. I miss feeling inspired every day. I miss the tate modern. I miss the silent zone, especially the smell. I miss lectures so much! I miss having loads of work to do. I miss graphic design being the most prominent feature in my life. I miss caffeine fuelled all nighters and creative breakthroughs.

...and whole lot of other things.

fresh kids

Two design collectives fresh kids and dirt cheap threw this kind of ~warehouse party~ for alternative talents. There was like mc's, body poppers, beatboxers and stuff blah blah... BUT more importantly there was like some illustration, graphics and conceptual art exhibition and all these massive white boards for you to draw on. I got to draw lots, it was good. I'd like to be involved with more stuff like this, but alot of it was really samey. There were loads of generic, repetitive patterns and crappy graffitti but hey-ho!

Drew this lovely toast man and then some idiot scribbled on it! Sweet jesus. Giant cock courtesy of Lauren Squires.
