DODGEM LOGIC!!!

I just had to write a post about Dodgem Logic. It's a pretty new magazine, the third issue is on the shelves right now but i was hooked from the first one. Generally I don't like magazines they're full of tedious celebrity gossip and uninspiring articles about what blink and you'll miss it new fashion trends you should be spending all your money on. Also I get quite disillusioned with life and from time to time I feel like the world is full of ignorant mongs. So yeah amongst all this Dodgem Logic is a breath of fresh air and has kind of re-established my faith in the human race; it's intellectual, interesting, funny, insightful and inspiring and most of all it brings back the true meaning of what a magazine should be about which is really good literature. This tops any other magazine out there, it's the kind that will give you a fresh perspective on life when you're feeling a bit mentally polluted. I would highly recommend it to EVERYONE. Also did I mention it has fantastic graphics, these guys don't cut no corners.

If you can't get hold of a copy at the very least check out their website by clicking HERE.

animal testing...

I've got a project at the moment for my advertising class and I was given the topic of animal testing, these are just some initial ideas and basically I want to make a stop motion of a vivisection centre where the animals have taken over and are testing on humans. Stay tuned...

CANCAN

This was a project to make a zoetrope based on a dance but i thought id put into an animation since i don't have a zoetrope and yeah i did the parisian cancan... awesome!

BIG CITY small dog

To be perfectly honest I don't think I have the will or metal capacity to concentrate on the arduous task that is: making an animation. But I feel like this is my first semi-successful attempt all made from paper cuts it looks very nice! Please bear in mind that it went from concept to completion all in one day!

aniiiiiiimatiiiiions!

Sadly i did not win. I can't imagine why.

ECCA competition

ECCA are lovely people, they help students and recent graduates set up their own businesses and start making money from their creativity! This is my entry for a postcard competition they are running, the theme was enterprise. I like it a lot. Let's keep those fingers crossed kids!

HAWAII

I just joined Print class and we had a project to make a invitation and envelope based on the theme of the culture and dance of our chosen place and there was the limitation that we were only allowed to use very low tech processes. So obviously I chose Hawaii, where else! I wanted the envelope to reflect their intrinsic link with nature and the invite was more of the touristy, cheesy but celebratory side of it. Either way I think if you got this through the post it would make you smile.

Down the Rabbit Hole

We studied stories for quite some time and had the project to reinvent an old story that followed us through our life. I chose Happy the Littlest Bunny my all time favorite childhood movie but made it into a sinister book about a little bunny who went down a forbidden rabbit hole, eat some magic cupcakes and turned into a gigantic bunny so he came back and destroyed the whole bunny village. It's a charming tale... here are some of the raw shots!

Grandad's Story

Over christmas break we had to collect as many stories as possible and then tell three of them as best we could. My favorite was on boxing day we're all sat around the dining table and my grandad is being a classic old man and starts talking about mushrooms for aaaaaaaages.

The Stalker Project

Okay so for this basically our aim was to 'stalk' another person randomly selected from our course, meanwhilst we ourselves were being 'stalked'. Pretty awkward stuff but the point was to find out all the hidden quirks that make a person individual and special. My girl was a total dreamer, she was always up in her own head living in a bit of a fantasy world and personality wise she was just over the top sweet as sugar. Here are a few images I was working on.
This is my final piece to describe her. The cottage in the city is my first serious commitment to a major paper crafting piece and I absolutely love it, not too shabby if I do say so myself.

I think that would make a pretty sweet poster yeah, I'd stick it up on my wall.
And at night...

BIG CITY small dog

Okay so I started doing a project on the never fascinating subject of why people in London tend to have such tiny dogs, it involved lots of embarrassing 'research' like talking to tiny dog owners in parks and generally making a twat of myself, I felt. Anyway I photographed all the people with their dogs and this one is just beautiful... I just had to post it.
After this obviously I started developing my ideas and visuals which finally culminated in an AWESOME animation about how as London grew bigger the dogs just kept getting smaller! Unfortunately I'm not sure how to post videos yet so here's just a sneaky peek of the paper cuts I used and I will put the animation up as soon as i figure it out yeah.

Sleeping Bananas

I like drawing on fruit, especially bananas... don't they look lovely!

WILL DESIGN FOR FOOD

I made this for my friend's little zine last summer the topic was 'Will Design for Food' so yeah I kind of dressed my sister up as an impoverished artist on the street with nothing but her skills to make monies. The result was beautiful.

HULLO CITY LIFE

So I made this in the summer right before I moved to london and as you can tell I was obviously pretty excited for city life! Yeah in my head this was pretty much how I thought it was going to be... I really like using bold lines and bright colours and I LOVE this fake grass!
